If you don't have a breed date...  it can be as much as a month.

You'll know it's the REAL thing when it's very thick, rather than just strings.

:)

Good luck and let us know!!!

Well I haven't gone through this yet but from what I've read the mucous plug should be creamy in color and it could possibly last up to 2 weeks prior to labor.  Just keep an eye on it because once it's gone the baby should be coming very soon.

Don't feel bad, I'll be in the same boat this May if my girls are pregnant.

Here is a great site you can learn from Fias Goat Farm

http://fiascofarm.com/goats/kidding.htm

A book I like is "Barnyard In Your Backyard", it has a lot of good information as well.

They will explain about kidding, colostrum, how to prepare the birthing site, what to use on the umbilical cord after birth and what to have on hand for the birthing.

I would suggest you getting the book and/or visiting that site before delivery.  You'll need a few things to aid delivery just in case along with a separate kidding stall that will ease her delivery.

Best of Luck with the delivery.

Back in January my goat had a lot of mucus.

And I thought we would have babies ANY DAY.  I had written the dates down for the first buck...

Checked her every 2hrs... drove myself crazy... drove everyone on here crazy...

And now it's 1/2 way through feb and... no babies.  She wasn't pregnant.  :wt:

I think the mucus I saw was from *ahem* my current buck.  Or... something.

I think, when it comes to goats... I'll be a newbie for a looooooooooooooong time.
