Well, my chicken that spent a few days in the cupboard is still doing ok.  Actually today he does seem better- getting around better, more alert, and a bit faster moving.

My main issue is that if he falls over, he won't get back up.  He'll just lay there.  If I set him back on his feet, he seems happy and will move along doing chicken things.

Today the d'Anvers boy found him down and apparently thought he was squatting and went into the biggest humping fest I've ever seen in a roo :spanking:   Must have thought his 'lady' wanted round 2.. and 3....  after I shooed him off he attacked my leg, so I don't think he appreciated the interruption faint:*

Anyway... so my ACTUAL question is... why is the RIR roo not able to get back up?  Is this a strength issue (just too drained)?  He doesn't even try.. just lays there.  Can I give him some vits to help him?

Thats a good idea, it may take him a while to get his strength back up. I think you said he was in that cupboard for a few days, with the heat and no water, it took a toll on him. I hope he continues to get better for ya. May just take him some time though.

He seems to be doing ok, actually.  A bit of a shock!!  He's keeping his distance from the other birds, being rather calm and friendly to me (without the aggression I've seen before) and he's getting around and eating better.

Thanks for asking!

Well.

I take my last post back.

Cupboard roo has died.

Another one of those stupid chicken strange but true facts: sometimes when they seem to be getting better they really are just preparing to die.

Not sure what happened, but not overly surprised.  Poor guy
