Sounds like you have a stinker in there... Look for any that look like they are wet or leaking... I have not had one so far.. but I have heard about them... be very very very careful removing it or them from your bator..

Good luck

Yep sounds like you got a weeper as they call it. The egg could have had a small crack in it when it was set. You need to find that booger and get it out. As renie said be careful removing it or it could bust. As for the smell you can't do anything about that til after the hatch when you clean the incy. I have had this happen to me and I know it doesn't smell good!!!!

i checked all and can't find any cracks, etc. I smelled each one as I turned them and didn't notice anything- I think it must have been the sponge even though I used a new one. I will keep checking today- however. thanks for info so quick! You guys are the BEST! Now when I have ??? hubby tells me to go to chicken chatter and ask! :-)

Thanks so much! this am when I turned everybody I smelled each one and looked them over- didn't notice anything- could've been that sponge I smelled although it was new. today i put larger water container in-i'm at day 18. I put eggs in incy on april 1 in am- do i figure on eggs hatching on 21 st or 22nd? Need to know when to stop turning them! talked about this project at my part time job-a paint your own ceramics studio. amazing the folks who are keeping chickens now. A 7 yr. old's class just hatched chcikens-they got 5 out of 12! she was so cute telling me about it all!

I tell everybody who is interested at all about chicken chatter.org and will put something small in my May christian paper about chickens and mention your site. thanks so much for all the help & encouragement!

Your 18th day is on the April 19th<<<<  So don't raise the humidity or stop turning them until then.

here's where I am- one egg has crack where chick is trying to get out- can hear cheeping from 2 places- This going on since about 10 this am- it is now7pm- I don't know if this is normal- if they are distressed-but will sit up and watch. I figure they need to be able to make it as I am no real help. Only the strong survive.

It is VERY exciting!!!

I don"t know nothin about birthin no baby chicks!!!!

Sometimes they stay pipped fo up to 24 hrs before they decide to come out. Some say its ok to help and some say not. I do help mine if needed but I do give at least 24 hrs before I start checking them out. Some of my chicks are very hard to hatch due to what I think is a very tough shell membrane. Its like leather. Hopefully your will hatch on their own for ya. The best thing to do is not to watch, I know its hard but its kinda like watching the clock at work when your ready to go home. It don't move!!!!! Good luck with your hatch and keep us posted!!
