Now it's Sat.(4/22) 4:45pm- so far I have 3 chicks and don't see any movement or noise coming from any other eggs. chicks are drying up and getting fluffy. I will move them to their new home tonite later when Honey helps me. 2 were born 9:30pm 4/21 and one in wee hours about 2am-4/22. So should I continue to take a "wait and watch" attitude with the other 11 eggs??? could one hatch after day 22??? thank you! How can I post pics from my blackberry?

Yes sit and wait.   I don't have any experience with cell phone pictures... but I know JJ does... He will step up to help. :)

hey Renie- just tapped on all 11 other eggs and listened and I hear chirping on another. so put it back and will sit back and watch! says 3/25 on it. who hoo! so about how  many other days should I sit and wait on these other 10 eggs eggs? I suppose because I opened  incubator and turned the eggs, temps., flucuated and all. Gonna put other 3 babies in brooder box tomorrow I guess, unless you advise otherwise. thankx! ***so exciting! ***

You don't turn the eggs once lock down has started.... those chicks have worked hard to position themselves so they wont drown when the membrane is cut.. SOOO don't turn them...

You can quickly remove the hatchlings.... YOU dont want the humidity to keep taking dives... it will cause the membrane to constrict around the unhatched and kill them.  But if the humidity is high... you can remove one at a time without completely removing the lid from the bator thus giving it enough time to recover before taking the next one out.. Also.. the calls from a hatch chick seems to help encourage the  ones in the shell to HURRY UP... to come join the party.. lol

The ones that have pips in them are bothered the most... You still have a chance.. now.. get yourself a cup of coffee.... sit back and relax.....

I have my hatching bator set up right here beside me on my computer desk... I can actually hear..... the peeping sounds.... and the actual sound of the pieces of shell as they bounce off the sides of the styrophoam ... lol don't even need to get up until..... I hear this scrabbling noise which is the chick fall out of the shell.. lol

Renie is right, just sit back and relax. We know its hard, very hard but it will be alright. The more experience you get the better it will get.

yeah, I am "white-knuckling" this one for sure! OK the 4th guy has the place for the hole cracked and the chicks are rocking him all over the place (and bumping all the other eggs still in there) as they peck at each other in the beaks. Probably all boys- they are  rowdy!!!! They are peeping so loud I can't tell about any other egg hatching like I could last nite.

I am trying to relax but would feel horrible if I killed a baby being ignorant!! This is going to be a long first year with these chickens I can see that!  It is so exciting, though! Honestly, I am so glad I tried doing this.

What do you mean by the 4th chick didn't get out? It may not be time for it to come out yet, can you tell if its still moving around?

Like Rusty said.. sometimes they sit there with a pip in them for 24 hrs... One mins it is all quiet... the next.. you will see chipped egg shell flying and hear them ping off the walls... lol
