Ok, go ahead and laugh at me now...s'allright.

I ordered Silkie eggs and the lady sent me Serama eggs by mistake. I serously have no desire for these cuties. Not sure what they are good or either (do they make super broodies or something?)

I understand they can be persnickety about hatching in a bator, but it was unthinkable to let them go to waste so, in the bator they went. They are due to hatch (if any do) around 5/25-26. I have never mailed brand new chicks, but would be willing to send them to whomever wants them for shipping only.  Where does one get a live chick mailing box from also? Ok just an fyi, will sell them locally at a feed store swap or CL if no-one here wants them

Several thoughts on my part; put those eggs under the broody. It might give them more of a chance to hatch.

Yes, some do go broody. I had a friend who's girl hatched a silkie chick.

Shipping will be off the table until they are old enough to be fully feathered. Chances are they would arrive no longer breathing if shipped that tiny.

Or . . . Keep them until they are more fully grown, there is quite a market for Seramas.

did you count on them hatching in 17-19 days instead of the usual 21 days?

no, shoot chickn, I didn't know that, so I stop turning these on what day? Any other things I need to know? Temps or humidity differences? Sem... you're close, would you like any of these?

Oh and I get an email from her yesterday , she wanted to make up for the mess up and is sending salmon favorelle eggs with the silkie's also. So what the hay am I going to do with all these mini chicks?

chickn hatches those out all the time.  :)  Her dad is quite a fan of that breed.

Kinda cool to order one breed and end up with three!!  Personally, I'd keep the seramas.  They are such cool little birds, and all different.  LOL!  Then again, that's why I'm a bit overrun with chickens at the moment!!

(and I'd thought about telling you to send them to me, but I'd hate to have you send them this far!)

we dont change humidity, shoot we dont even know what that is ever in any of our incubators. but anyway, stop turning then them like jj said, and in my experience, the problem is people want the smallest eggs to hatch, and want the smallest chick to live and all that is just so hard, however i think mailing these tiny eggs just is too hard on them sometimes also.

meg, sounds like me, i would be overjoyed to have 3 kinds..LOL and that explains the mess i am in..

thought of more, sorry,
pasty butt seems more an issue, not always, enough that i want to put it out there. these chicks are tiny, and i do brood them with std and bantams just the same. once feathered they are little killers. or they think they are. tough little birds, but sweet. killer meaning they are not afraid of anything. like a chihuahua in face of large dog. someone save them from themselves!! LOL
